The title is just what the night was. A bunch of sweet ladies getting together eating pizza and praying. As you know, the power of prayer is simply amazing. A bad day can turn into the best day of your life from a short simple prayer.
Before we begin to dive in let me start with how this event idea came about. I was a public school teacher for a short amount of time before I moved into the private school sector. When I taught public school it was rough. I could go on forever with specific details of how hard it was but that's irrelevant. The point is the students I had made my heart break daily. You see students in today's school aren't facing the same battles that they used to. Today, they are worried about what their classmates will say when they wear the same outfit for the third day. They are worried what will be said when they don't have any food to eat at lunch. They are worried who will care for their baby brother at home while they are at school. They are worried. They can't focus because they are struggling with battles that you and I could never begin to understand. Low income students aren't the only ones who struggle though. What about private school children who have to live up to their straight A valedictorian brother. If they come home with anything less than a 4.0 then they will feel as if they are an outcast. They too are fighting battles! Don't forget the sweet homeschool students too! They want to fit in and be normal but the world has labeled them as different because their parents chose a different path for them. How do they overcome this label?
Whew, are you tired? I am. For those reasons and many more I created an event called Pizza and Prayer. The event was put on with the mindset of praying for anyone and everyone involved in education. We had a sweet time of fellowship and eating delicious pizza that was followed by prayer. During prayer time there were five stations set up and each station had ten minutes devoted to praying for specific categories. After time was up you would move onto the next prayer station.
Prayer Station 1: Administration
This group includes principals, superintendent, headmasters, deans of school, anyone who holds an administration position at any school, college, church, homeschool group.
Prayer Station 2: Teachers
This group includes public school, private school, Sunday school, and homeschool teachers.
Prayer Station 3: Support Group
This group includes all board members, cafeteria works, bus drivers, teachers aides, janitors, secretaries, and room moms.
Prayer Station 4: Students
This group includes all students- Sunday school, homeschool, private school, public, college, everyone!
Prayer Station 5: Atmosphere
This group includes the atmosphere of all education related places. We pray for safety and peace. We pray for the armor of God to protect students, teachers, support staff, and administrations.
Here are some pictures of how we set up the night:
See as prayer warriors we shouldn't just specifically be praying for one certain group. We should be praying for all five of those categories because whether you realize it or not all five of these groups affect your children every day. The teacher spends the majority of the day with them. The cafeteria workers see them during lunch. The principal sees them throughout the day. The board members decide what type of education is best for your student. The homeschool mom juggles between being a mom and being a teacher. The point, pray. Pray for these five categories as often as you can. The educational system needs us to pray for them more than ever.
Sincerely,
a prayer warrior
