Bringing Home the RV

Updated: Mar 16, 2019

Yesterday was a glorious day! We finally brought our new home to its resting spot. However, it was stressful doing that with two small children!

Do you ever dream of how the day will go and it seems as if it's going to be perfect? Literally, you thought out every single detail and how could anything possibly go wrong?

Then for once it seems, it actually turns out pretty good!

About six months ago we had several decisions to make. Our lease was up on our apartment and we really didn't want to sign a new one and keep flushing $1300 a month down the drain. In my opinion, that's what happens when you rent. If we weren't renewing our lease what were we going to do? We could go ahead and jump full force into buying a house. We had $10,000 in savings and we could use that for a down payment. Sounded perfect right? Then we started the house hunting and we couldn't find what we wanted. We easily looked at over twenty houses and none of them were what we were looking for. Honestly, the thought of signing a 30 year mortgage and being a slave to the lender was not really appealing to us anymore.

So what were we going to do?

That's when the idea of living in an RV popped into our minds. At first we thought, there is absolutely no way in the world we can do this! Really, we had just downsized from a 1800 square foot house to a 900 foot apartment do we really want to take it down to 150 square feet? We researched. And researched. And researched.

Finally we had decided that this was for us. We LOVE the minimalist lifestyle and going tiny doesn't seem all that bad. It will allow us to be COMPLETELY debt free by spring and give us WAY more time to focus on making sweet memories with our children.

We started searching and I mean searching for an RV. We went to several RV dealers (I'll do a write up on that later) and we walked through several RVs. Finally we had to set our goals. We could spend +$50,000 on an RV and live like kings and queens or we could set goals and be reasonable.

We decided to be reasonable.

After all the leg work and research we settled on a 2017 Keystone Cougar Lite. It has everything we need in just shy of 150 square feet. We are in love with it and getting ready to do a complete farmhouse renovation (stay tuned for that post too)!

Now you're caught up!

Yesterday we brought home _______ we haven't named her yet. We really need to though!

Excuse the tree. But really though who doesn't love some good shade?

The dealer, who was AMAZING, loaded it up and followed us to the campsite.

He backed it in for us and showed my husband how to hook up everything. He stayed late on a Friday and took his time ensuring my husband felt comfortable. I went into the office and signed all the paperwork and we were ready to go!

We are so excited for this journey and we hope you'll follow along with us!

What do you think we should name our camper?!
